Adrian’s Background
Not many people can say that they started to develop an interest in ironmongery from the age of six, but that was when I first found myself learning about my father’s building supplies and ironmongery company. This paved the way for me to gain a keen interest in ironmongery and I naturally ended up working in the industry.
Before working with ironmongery, I developed my skills and experience in a number of roles. When I left college, I started an apprenticeship with a local building firm where I learnt about a range of trades from welding and metal fabrication, to carpentry, electrical systems and vehicle trimming. It gave me a great skillset and understanding of working in the trade.
In 2008, I joined parcel delivery company TNT, which was initially intended as a stop gap, but after realising how much I enjoyed working and interacting closely with customers, I knew that customer service was a key strength of mine.
So, when in 2010 my dad asked me to join his company, I couldn’t refuse the chance to work with ironmongery, in a customer service role. I joined as a Sales Representative and spent two years advising and supporting ironmongery trade customers.
The company was sold in 2011, when my dad retired, so I moved to an ironmongery company in Bridgwater Somerset as a Sales Representative. It was a varied role, and I became involved with most aspects of the company from product buying, supplier sourcing, technical specification, product training, to marketing and deliveries.
My Role at BJ Waller
Joining BJ Waller was a very easy decision, it’s the kind of place you want to work at. I know the team well having worked with them in the past and I know that everyone here has in-depth knowledge and a real enthusiasm for their role.
My position as Technical Sales Representative involves promoting BJ Waller as a company to new and existing customers throughout the South West. My aim is to help customers and their businesses stand out from the competition by advising on the most up-to-date products to find the best fit for their projects.
The working environment here at BJ Waller is really positive and I can see why the company continues to grow. I can only see BJ Waller heading towards exciting things in the future, something I’m proud to be a part of.
